" Norman "

Norman Eugene Johnson

20 June 1928

1946 Cook High School Annual

Norman's mother was the first white baby born at "Ashawa" now Cook, on June 8, 1902. Norman's grandparents John & Martha Olson were the first homesteaders in the Cook area coming here in the spring of 1900. The Cook School and the First Baptist Church are on the south border of their homestead.

Norman was the first baby that Doctor William Heiam age 30 delivered in Cook after starting his practice here in 1928. Norman's twin sister Marcia was born twenty minutes later. They were born in their parents house next door to the First Baptist Church. Doctor Heiam opened his private hospital in 1932 and James Amundson became the first baby born in Heiam's Cook General Hospital that was located next to the Cook News Herald, that building was destroyed by fire on January 22, 2000.
