Indicators of a Stroke

Class on stroke and its indicators.  The tongue is a good one too.  If a person is treated within 3 hours there is a very good chance there will be a full recovery.

 

The instructor gave us these four letters F.A.S.T. which stand for:

 

F = Face - look at the Face to see if there is a droop - ask person to smile  to see if its uneven

 

A = Arm - Ask if an arm is numb - check for arm weakness by asking them to push up with both

              arms against your hands

 

S = Speech - Slurred speech - Difficulty in speaking or understanding

 

T = Time - Call 911 and get to the hospital immediately -

                Have ambulance go to nearest stroke center
