THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

By Becky Trip

It was a nail-biter.  Sitting at home on my couch watching the Class A State Championship game, I was kept on the edge of my seat.  Each team had incredible scoring runs, and you knew that it was going to come down to the very last moment.  Our boys played their hearts out, and the other team was determined to keep them from scoring.

In the end, the North Woods Grizzlies came up second in the tournament, losing the championship game on Saturday, March 24, 2018, by a score of 55-59.  Three of the Grizzlies were named to the All-Tournament team; Senior Tate Olson, Junior Cade Goggleye, and Sophmore Trevor Morrison.  You can read about the match-up in this Duluth News Tribune article:

On Saturday evening around 7:30 p.m., we heard the sirens of the local emergency vehicles as they escorted the returning team through town on their way back to the school.  We ran outside to welcome them home.

We are so proud of our Grizzlies!  Thanks for another great March Madness ride!

ON THEIR WAY TO STATE!

by Becky Trip

The Grizzlies Boys Basketball Return Trip to the State Tournament began this morning, Wednesday, March 21, 2018.  There was a Pep Rally at the school at around 9:45 a.m., and around 10:45 a.m., we heard the sirens as the Fire Department and Ambulance Squad escorted them through town so we could all send them off on their journey.  This year, my daughter and I were ready and waiting in front of our house to wave and cheer them on.
