On Monday, March 27th, 2017, fans packed the North Woods gym to officially welcome home our Boys Basketball Team from the 2017 State Basketball Tournament. Thanks for the March Madness that you brought to all of our lives.

The North Woods Grizzlies Take 2nd Place in the Minnesota State High School Class 1A Championship Game.
On Friday, March 24th, our North Woods Grizzlies Basketball Team won their Semi-final State Tournament game, sending them to the Championship game on Saturday. As soon as they won, I was on the list to head down to the game on the Fan Bus being provided by the school, along with two of my younger daughters. At 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, the Fan Bus and the Pep Band bus (which my two oldest daughters were riding), left the school to head down for an exciting day.
Half of the Target Center arena was packed with North Woods Grizzlies fans, who had come from far and wide to support our Team. Our Pep Band, led by Larry Baker, performed the National Anthem for the game, and they sounded fantastic. The student fan section was in full-force, and the Grizzlies Cheerleaders kept the cheering going the entire game.
Minneapolis North has a fantastic basketball team, and they were seeded Number One. Next year, this team is being moved up to 2A, instead of being in 1A. They played a great game, and we want to congratulate them on their victory.
Our North Woods Grizzlies played full-on the entire game. They made us incredibly proud with their teamwork, sportsmanship, and love of the game. It was fun to be there in the Target Center to support our Team and to watch them take home the 2nd Place Championship trophy. Thanks for the memories!

DID YOU SEE THAT SHOT??!!!!!!!!!!
The boys won their first game yesterday, Thursday, March 23rd, at the State Tournament! If you missed seeing the Buzzer-Beating half-court shot that Cade Goggleye sunk to win the game, you missed an exciting moment. We were watching the game online at home (two of our girls were at the tournament in the North Woods Pep Band), and all of us screamed when that shot went in. Congratulations, boys!!! Good luck on your semi-final match today, Friday, March 24th, at 2:00 p.m.
You can watch the game on TV on Channel 13.

ON THEIR WAY TO STATE!
The North Woods Boys Basketball team headed off down to the Twin Cities this morning, Wednesday, March 22, 2017, to participate in the State High School Basketball Tournament. There was a Pep Rally at the school to send them off, and then they were escorted through town on their way South by the Fire Departement and Sherrif's Department. I heard the sirens coming down Vermilion Drive and waved and snapped some photos of them as they went by our house. My Mom was on Main (River) Street to wave them off.
North Woods will play Central Minnesota Christian on Thursday, March 23 at Williams Arena-U of M. Game time is 5:00 pm. See the tournament brackets here.
Good luck Grizzlies!!!!
